I'm a bit old to be starting out in life again, but that's where I am. Sadly. Or gladly. It's where I am. Come along. Watch the fun. Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow.

The Soul's Joy

Larger than life, Crow's two brothers, both now gone, live on in our hearts and memories. To have known them both from birth was a joy and a privilege.

This Soul's Joy

It was this soul's joy
for this mote of time
to choose blood and bone
sinew and flesh and fur
To fall beneath your warm gaze
And your gentle hand

To confine the far reaches
of this soul's infinity
for this brief while
in this chosen vessel
to sail through field and wood
powering this confinement
with the winds of my own breath,
with singing muscle and strong bone

Now I stand at the edge

of the open field of being
and race the reaches of time
to dance around the stars
with you as surely as
a walk among the hemlocks
until I find the turn-around star
For this is this soul's joy.

They are both so beautiful, and what a wonderful poem to remember them by. It captures the essence of their lives perfectly, I think.
